Twist Out on Short, Kinky Hair

Who doesn't love a good Twist Out! I know I do and honestly @Chadel Mathurin has mastered it!

"This video is my Twist-out on Short, Kinky Natural Hair. This is my third time doing a twist-out since my big chop. I use the Q-Redew Handheld Hair Steamer to detangle and moisturize my hair."

What is a Twist Out?

A twist out is when you put a whole bunch of two-strand twists throughout your hair, you let them air-dry, and then separate the twists and wear them as a twist-out. It's great for creating volume and definition!

There are different types of "twist outs" that can result in more or less definition, elongation, volume, etc. Each has a different technique. For example, a regular twist out or flat-twist out are similar to braiding hair, but only use two strands. This form can give you more definition and beautiful kinky texture or wavy hair depending on your hair length.

Another type is a cornrow twist out which takes more time than flat-twist out. This style can give more frizz, but also more volume and more elongation.

How to achieve the perfect regular twist out or flat twist out?

Grab a mini section of hair to twist and separate it into two strands to work with. Use the Q-Redew to add moisture to your sections. You can get a good style doing the initial twist out with moisture from the hair steamer instead of having damp hair.

Stretch the hair out and begin to twist the hair over and under until you've reached the ends. Using a dab of gel, twirl the ends into a curl with your finger.
