Coveteur's Ama Kwarteng in her I Swear by This series talks to writer, Akili King. King, the associate manager of digital content at Rose Inc is quoted as saying “I love to do weekly steams to really help my hair retain moisture. Kwarteng and King sat down to talk about how King, who speaks of being into hair care since childhood, has adapted her routine to maintain moisture between wash days and listens to what her hair needs. Her developing routine took time and trial and error.
We love King's take on natural. King reminds us, “Another thing is, don’t try to make your texture what it’s not. I spent a lot of time trying to over define my hair and make it look ‘perfect’ and that took up a lot of emotional energy. Once I accepted my texture and embraced it, I found beauty in the perceived ‘imperfections.’ The bigger the better, honey!”
